INSTRUCTIONS

Please respond to all application questions in full. The individual identified should be the primary business owner. Eligible applicants must:

  • Business must be located on a commercial corridor; must be a brick-and-mortar business; own or lease space at a physical location zoned/licensed for business operations within the grantee boundaries
  • Eligible entities include for profitable business in targeted area whereby they have employees who are on a payroll and pay payroll taxes
  • Provide evidence or proof of business license or permit
  • Have 50 or fewer employees as of application date
  • Be current on or in an active payment plan Federal, State, and Local taxes
  • Must have been in operation as of January 1, 2024
  • Must be in operation at time of application
  • Have a clear demonstrated need and use of grant funds
  • Must not be in conflict of interest with City of Buffalo, City of Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency, or the third-party program operator


Please be sure to upload the City of Buffalo Business Assistance Grant Attestation Form, available under "Attachments" on the upper right corner of this page. All required listed on the City of Buffalo Assistance Grant Attestation Form must be submitted. Additionally, please submit the following documents, if available, to help further determine financial need:

  • Accounts payable aging report
  • Cash flow statement
  • Income statement
  • Balance sheet

City of Buffalo Business Assistance Grant

Imagine what your business could achieve with a one-time grant of up to $20,000. This grant funding can assist with the costs of payroll, rent or mortgage, utilities, inventory, marketing and professional services, and moveable equipment.
